Michael Barton

State 12’s Coach

Currently Primary Physical Education Teacher who has worked at Rising Stars since its inception. Michael has a real passion for football and has been heavily involved in developing young male and senior footballers over the past 26 years. Has developed high performance football Programs for Rising Stars and a local junior club. Very fortunate to have visited some AFL clubs training sessions. 
-Currently Head Coach of the WA State 12s Boys AFL Team 
-Assistant Coach of the WA State 12s Team.
-Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation

 

Oliver Beath

State Under 15’s Girls AFL Coach 2017

Currently the Head of Health and Physical Education at All Saints’ College, Oliver is new to the Rising Stars Program in 2017, working as the Female Academy Coach for the South zone. Oliver has a real passion for football and has been heavily involved in developing young female footballers over the past 15 years. Has coached both male and females teams since 2003 in both developing and high performance Programs. Has coached 15 current AFLW players at a 15s or 16s State level.
-Head Coach of the WA State 15s Female AFL Team since 2009
-Head Coach of the 2013 WA State 15s Female AFL Team who became the first team to defeat Victoria and win a National Championship at any level (15s, 16s, 18s, 23s or Open)
-Development Coach at the 2017/18 WAFC Female Talent Academy
-Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation
-Been a member of the WAFC Schoolgirls’ Committee since 2006

John Simmons

John has been coaching at the Rising Stars Program in since it started. John has a real passion for football and has been heavily involved in developing young male footballers over the past 15 years. He is the current A/Coach of the State Under 14's Team and previously Head Coach of the State Under 12's.

Thomas Moscarda

Assistant Coach of the State Under 14’s

Thomas is currently the Head of Wanneroo Football Program and Physical Education. Thomas has been coaching at the Rising Stars Program in since it started. Thomas has a real passion for football and has been heavily involved in developing young male footballers over the past 10 years. He is the current A/Coach of the State Under 14's Team and A/Coach at West Perth.

Tony Notte

Coach at RS Ashfield

Tony is new to the Rising Stars coaching staff in 2017 and we are very excited to have him on board to help our older players at Governor Stirling, where he attended school. He has previously been a player at the West Coast Eagles for three years and recently played 200 games at WAFL level for Swan Districts and played for the WA State WAFL team in 2017.

Stewart Horton

Girls Coach at RS Ashfield.

Another new and exciting young coach who is a Phys Ed teacher at Warwick SHS. Stu was part of the coaching staff with the State WA Girls 15s in 2017 and is rated highly due to his passion, communication skills and willingness to build solid relationships with his players. He has been a part of the Subiaco FC Colts and Development Squad system as a player and is now playing league football at a local Amatuer club while also coaching the Colts team.

Mitchell Bain

Coach at Ashfield.

As well as a program that looks to develop and improve young players, Rising Stars also likes to help develop young coaches. We are pleased to welcome a current Governor Stirling SHS student as a coach for our young group of players. Mitchell is a current Swan Districts FC Colts player, playing since he was 16, and is now part of the 2018 WA State 18s program who have already started training last week in preparations for next year.

Darren Rumble

Played 229-games for Subiaco in his career.

Was drafted on the Rookie list by Fremantle at pick number 42.
Darren won six premierships at Subiaco and represented the WA State Team on 3 occasions. Darren is the current State Under 17’s Coach.

Todd Banfield

We would like to welcome Todd to the Rising Stars coaching staff at Governor Stirling as he is another high quality current WAFL player with Swan Districts FC. Todd has also previously been in the AFL system as a player with Brisbane and Richmond and also attended Governor Stirling SHS.

Sam Cavicchio

Coach.

Has been part of the Rising Stars program from its inception two years ago and is the driving force behind starting Rising Stars in the eastern suburbs. We are very fortunate to have Sam on board as he has a long affiliation developing and coaching young footballers in the Swans District and WA.

Michael Barlow

Head Coach Victoria

We welcome to the Rising Stars team Michael Barlow – head of our Victorian Coaching Arm.

A previous AFL player for Fremantle and Gold Coast, he started his major sporting career not in AFL but playing for Shepperton United in the Goulburn Valley Football League.

He moved to the VFL in 2007, went to Werribee in 2008 and after a few very successful years, was drafted to Fremantle Football Club with their first selection rookie draft in 2010.

Michael has a very strong connection to country and regional Victoria and loves to help develop and guide young regional talent. He has a love of all sports, particularly football from an early age.

Brett Deledio

Coach Victoria

Rising Stars welcomes Brett Edward Deledio to our coaching staff in our latest venture Rising Stars Victoria.

Brett is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played 243 games over 12 seasons with the Richmond Football Club in the and a further 32 matches over three seasons with the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

-       two-time All-Australian

-       two-time Richmond best and fairest winner

-       recipient of league's Rising Star award in his debut year in 2005

Between 2013 and 2016, he served as Richmond's vice-captain. Deledio was drafted to Richmond with the number one overall pick in the 2004 AFL draft and made his debut in round 1 of the 2005 season.

Brett also has a strong connection to regional and country Victoria and is passionate about building the super stars of the future.

Bronte Ryan

Coach Victoria

We are happy to welcome Bronte Ryan to our Rising Stars team.

Bronte played for Claremont in the WAWFL and the WA state team in 2009.

Her coaching skills and experience are undeniable.
